Happy birthing stories

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with our first child so naturally I've been hearing all about everyones birthing horror stories, epidul, 26hrs labor, tears from arsehole to breakfast time and everything which I had been taking in but also not letting them consume me with fear, I've got this id tell myself, but now the times getting closer to our due date I'm starting to freak out, im not ready, what if something goes wrong, I really don't want an epidul. No one has any good birthing stories, I'm not expecting rainbows and butterflies, pain free, easy breezy but is it really that horrific and traumatic?
