Autism signs

My baby’s 5 months old and since he’s about 2 months my mother has mentioned multiple times that he avoids eye contact and does not like people close to his face . She says that it’s not normal for babies and that it’s a sign of autism. I have nothing about autism, I am just curious, if this is really a sign and something I need to start thinking so my child can have and get all the help he will need in the future . Also if it’s something I need to discuss with his doctor .
