Christmas gift gone wrong ??
I'm in a long distance relationship and have been for about 10 months but have known each other on and off for a few years. We met in person for the first time in november and the visit went amazing.
For Christmas I sent him a package that included..a blanket I made because he had been complaining of being cold after coming home from work, a shirt I saw him looking at when we were together, a bottle of my perfume for when he misses me, a bag of the gummy candy we shared on our last night together and fun dip (it's one of the first things I sent him years ago). My mom and I packaged it up nice and I shipped it off. I watched him open it over video chat and he seemed to genuinely appreciate everything. I tried to put meaning behind all of it.
He doesn't sugar coat so I would know if he hated it. He wrapped himself up in the blanket while he was opening everything else, smelled the perfume and ate the candy while we were talking and he kept looking at everything and almost looked a little emotional.
He seemed almost taken aback..in a good way though. But I get the sense that hes never really had anyone to celebrate holidays with or get gifts for him. He doesn't have a great relationship with family and didnt see anyone on Christmas except a neighbor who he helped repair something for on Christmas day.
Anyway..he said he was cold one night and I teased him that that is why I made the blanket for him and asked if he was using it. He said no that he wanted to use it with me and was saving it. I asked him another day if he had worn the shirt I got him and he said he was saving it for a special occasion like when he comes to see me again.
I put so much effort into the blanket and he seemed to like it and I'm confused as to why hes not using it. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I've never really put that much effort into a gift before and I dont know how to feel.
