To burp or not to burp? Do you bother to burp a baby who has fallen asleep while nursing?

My baby had reflux so I will let him sleep on my chest while I gently pat it.  If he doesn’t burp after 10 minutes or so then I lay him back down.  Lack of burping nearly always results in a gassy squirm later on though 😂

Babies typically swallow much less air nursing than bottle feeding, so some babies may not really need to be burped religiously. You can try just letting him sleep if you want-- you'll probably know after a few times if that's fine vs. he really needs to be burped. Trial & error.

I breastfeed baby and i must burp him. he’s super gassy & gets very uncomfortable with trapped gas. 90% of the time he either burps or will fart it out. Plus he also spits up often so i keep him upright while i burp him to help the milk go down.
