Almost 2 month old still sleeps 18-19 hours a day? Is this normal?

He eats plenty and is healtty but is just always so sleepy!

My baby sleeps the same and I just asked my pediatrician...he said it’s totally normal!

My LO sleeps the same. She loves sleep lol.. she sleeps her 7-8 hours at night already and I let her sleep when she’s tired during the day. She’s pretty much nursing every 3-4 hours. I mostly go on demand but that’s what I see between feedings

That's a little on the high side compared to my 11 week old but I wouldn't say it's super abnormal. My doctor said most babies sleep around 8 hours at night time (broken up with a feeding or 2) and then another 8 hours or so in naps during the day so that would be 16 hours. My baby normally ends up around 14-16 hours when you add it all up. I try to keep him engaged and stimulated with toys and playing between naps so that he doesn't sleep too much, but if he seems extra sleepy some days I let him sleep more. He's gotten himself into a pretty good schedule of when I can expect him to be tired.
