Here’s my birth story! I’m a first time mom in Canada

January 2nd

Leave work (I’m a dental hygienist) at 830 pm. On my way home I felt a gush of water and wasn’t sure if it was my bladder or water breaking. I get out of the car at home and feel another gush. Went upstairs to change and felt a few more gushes.

Called the hospital and they asked me to come in and get checked my husband and I got checked at 11pm. The dr determined my water broke but as I wasn’t having contractions gave me the options of 1) staying at the hospital until contractions started or they induce me or 2) go home and come back when I started to feel them. I opted for option 2 as we didn’t bring anything with us (I feel very superstitious🙈)

January 3

Around 1215am we were home and jumped in the shower as on the way home I started having contractions. My husband was grabbing things to take back. Things started to get pretty painful and we called the hospital that we were on our way back. In the truck on the way there contractions were coming fast,lasting a minute every 2-3 min apart. We got to the hospital at 202am and my husband took me up to maternity. I told the nurse I needed something for pain and she was asking if I was involuntarily pushing on my contractions. She checked and I was already 8cm dilated. My husband ran to park the truck as we left it outside the emergency doors. He paid for parking at 234 am. Our sweet baby boy arrived at 301am with only the use of laughing gas.

He is beyond sweet and we couldn’t be more in love. Thank you all for being there over the past months with any questions I’ve had!
