How long do you date before being in a relationship??

I met this man 2 months ago, and I like him. We’ve been out on maybe 3-4 dates but most of the time we’re hanging out / sleeping over each other’s houses(with and without sex) around 3-4 times a week. I feel like he wouldn’t be wasting his time on me if he didn’t feel something for me, but I feel like I wanna lock him down and be considered more serious. I’ve had a talk with him and basically eluded to waiting on him to ask. What do you say?

I guess you have to decide how long your willing to wait. 
Some guys like the feeling of a girlfriend without the commitment.
Or he can just be wanting to take his time to ask you.

My bf defined the relationship almost immediately. We never did have that talk, so I don’t have a definite date we became “official.” I consider our first date to be the “official” start of and date of our relationship. That is how quick he locked everything down. I dated someone before that and four months and still nothing. I think he was just content with having someone to spend time with. In my opinion, if a guy sees any type of future with someone he is not going to wait.

I’m pretty straightforward with men and let them know ahead of time I’m not planning on having sex unless I feel it’s getting serious and we don’t need “the DTR talk” unless we have sex. I definitely want to make sure that a guy isn’t sleeping with other people if he’s sleeping with me. Also the whole sleeping at each other’s houses and not having dates that early on wouldn’t be ok with me. I want us to date and have dates before I get that comfortable.

My boyfriend and i were seeing eachother for 8 months before we made anything official. I felt the same way but i didn’t ever want to rush into anything with him in hopes that it would work out unlike any of my other serious relationships. 4 years later we are still together.
