Toddler chronic constipation
Any ladies with a toddler who battles constipation constantly? What are your tricks to get them to poop without using a suppository or enema? We had to give our 2 year old girl an enema (Walgreens pediatric emema) tonight after being backed up for 3 days and it was horrible! I started to cry because she was so upset. Of course, she felt so much better after she went and boy, she went. I just try to do everything to keep her regular and every little thing causes her to become constipated. Her pediatrician says it's genetic because these issues run in my family and my husband has ibs. I'm debating on whether to get a referral to go see a gastrointolagist. Anyone have experience with that? I just work so hard to keep her regular and it seems like I'm chasing a losing battle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA!
Also, she gets blueberries, prunes and yogurts. She has an apple every day for her snack. She takes a probiotic everyday. She eats oatmeal every morning for breakfast. She eats a very balanced diet. She drinks lactose free milk as I'm lactose intolerant.
