Too big?

Question

So we are new to cloth diapering, my baby is currently 1 month old and 7lb, we’ve been using newborn disposable diapers cause of how tiny she is. We tried one of our cloth diapers on her today and it looks ginormous on her, is this right? I can’t tighten it anymore, how do I know if it’s fitting properly? 
Also what are the best inserts? And how many should we have? Currently we have 20 microfibre and 12 charcoal ones

One size usually fits more around 10-12 pounds. 
You could buy newborn ones but they don’t fut for long. 
Bamboo charcoal is microfiber so you’ll want to get natiral fiber for when baby is older. 
Ajm for a minimum of 24!

That extra button on the outside of the fastener is to make it a tad bit smaller it should not be that loose up top you can have a small gap and no muffin top but never that lose!

Get on YouTube and look up the "Newborn Hack". That helped ours fit in hers at the beginning

To add a different comment, the hip strap on baby's right side can be used as additional snaps. Just snug that side first and then use it for the left strap.

Ya looks too big. I know my diapers didn't fit until my daughter was 8 and a half pounds. We used disposables until she fit.

I had this issue and we did the following (I hope my description is easy to follow...)
Fold the top set of 3 poppers to the middle set of 3 poppers (looking at the 3 sets of 3 at the front/bottom of the nappy.
Then fold over the top of the nappy.
Fasten the bottom individual part of the flap to the bottom of the 3x3 on both sides, the fold over the tops and fasten.
They fit my 7lb4oz baby like that x

To shorten it up you can roll the waist down and snap the side flaps together

Hey, this looks like a Birth to Potty (BTP), which unfortunately generally aren't, unless you give birth to a larger baby! There are a few newborn hacks for making them even smaller, this is one - just snap the poppers up according to the colour coding. I've added some other general fitting/booster info too. Hope this helps!

You can cross the hip straps over themselves to tighten the waist. Also, the rise snaps should be folded up, not down. After it’s been snapped, take your fingers and push the fold up toward the waistband. 
If it fits snug around the waist and there are no leg gaps, she can wear it. It will just be bulky under clothes.
