Why is the tv so bad?

My 3 month old loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse. Obviously I don’t let her watch it all day but I’ll let her watch an episode, it helps me get stuff done and she seems super happy. Why is it so bad if I let her watch it?? Will it really effect her eyes that much?

No it won’t affect her at all. TV isn’t bad. Just think of the amount of babies that have older siblings with it on! There’s some great educational baby shows too!

TV is bad for their brain development as it disrupts their brain waves. It's also been shown to cause delays in speaking and a smaller vocabulary in kids who watch tv versus those that dont. It also starts bad habits early that are hard to break.
Theres so many other activities that help your child learn that I just dont see the point in using tv aside from it being easy. But theres definitely other ways to keep baby occupied on their own.

Having been obsessed with tv myself as a child, teen and young adult... I can say we don’t turn it on in our house. It’s a dust collector. 
We don’t plan to introduce tv. Babe will see it at other peoples houses. 
As a teacher I’ve seen what too much can do. 1 episode after a year or two old isn’t going to hurt, but I think 3 months is too young. 
Google it for yourself. Do the research and find out if it’s something you want for your family. It’s not for us, but that’s okay if it is for you. To each their own. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I honestly think as long as that’s not the only interaction a child gets and it’s done in moderation, then it’s not a big deal at all.. I don’t see any parent as any less of a parent for using tv to help make things easier for them to get stuff done. If it works for you, it works for you!

It’s not going to harm her, but it’s also definitely not going to help her. Babies that age need interaction and physical stimulation. Not bright moving glowing colors. That being said, the digital babysitter is magical, if possibly addictive. Use sparingly.

People say its so bad but my kids learn so much from it. They are watching educational programs and only watch it for limited time. During the day we do outdoor play.

My baby has been watching educational shows/videos since about 4 months. She has learned a lot from watching them such as most of her colors, new words, letters, etc. I think it all depends on what they are actually watching. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It can cause delays in speech and crawling/walking because they don’t want to move 🤷🏻‍♀️ with that being said, my daughter loves Baby Bum on Netflix and Elmo and while we don’t let her watch a ton, she’ll watch maybe an hour per day BUT she doesn’t always sit and watch it. It’s more so to distract her while we make dinner or clean up the kitchen. It has definitely taught her different words and songs. She is almost 17 months and she sings along ♥️

At that age I honestly dont think it's very detrimental,  the risk here would be developing a tv habit that carries into the talking and pretend play stages which can delay speech and hold back your child on learning appropriate play if all they do is watch tv.
