Golden retriever or King Charles spaniel?

Question

Hi y’all, I have a question. Has anyone owned both dogs at some time that you can give me advice? I’m considering either breed. Actually the golden retriever is cuz my husband loves them and the king spaniel is for me. But we can only get one dog. We live in a medium apartment but with a big garden. I’m not a very active person and I don’t work so j will be spending most of my time at home with the dog. I have a 4 year old and another on the way. Can u plz give me advice on those two breeds?

Thank you ladies for your advices! I think I’m getting a cavalier tomorrow! 
It will be the first dog I ever owned ( but my husband has had dogs before) so it will be great if you can pass on your advice for how to crate train/housebreak etc 🙈🙈

A cavalier would be great for that environment. A golden retriever needs exercise so either a big yard to run in or at least 1 hour of walks a day plus play time. I havent had a golden retriever but know many people that do. And I have a cavalier growing up.

My husband and I have had Winston here for 2 years and we love him. He’s a great addition to our family. He isn’t huge which I like (not a huge fan of big dogs). He adores my son! And is definitely a people dog, he will follow me everywhere (including the bathroom) and will even wimpier if I leave the house.. I think King Cavilers are great (plus they don’t need a TON of outside space)

A golden is going to need exercise. King charles maybe the better choice. 
Defintely do your research on the 2 breeds before you decide! :)
