Is jealousy a sign of love?

My ex was always very jealous. At first I felt like it was because he really loved and valued me and was afraid of losing me but it got very annoying after a while. I gave him no reason to be jealous. I was loyal, had no male friends, I never even talked to other guys. He was always suspisious for no reason. I felt like he did not trust me. I had proved myself to be a loyal gf but it was not enough for him. He would get suspisious for the most ridiculous reasons. I would send him a sexy pics because he would ask me to and he would ask “Who did you really take those for?”. He would accuse me of checking out his friends all the damn time. He accused me of cheating because a text I sent him earlier duplicated and was resent at night. It was literally just “I am eating Captain Ds”. That was all it took to get me in trouble. He would complain if I wore a dress or skirt or shorts in public because he did not want men looking at me. But he was aloud to call girls sexy in front of me and say stuff like “I should have fucked that girl” but if I even called a guy cute he would get so mad.
