Potty training help

I'm potty training my daughter who is a little over 2.5.... I have her with no diaper and she keeps telling me she wants a diaper on and points at the potty and says "I don't want that". Is this normal or not? Any tips? She definitely understands and she talks well to express what she feels and if she goes to the bathroom
