What was your first relationship like? +advice plz

I’m in my first relationship, and it’s his first, too. We’re really awkward, but I kinda feel like he’s not meeting me in the middle... any advice on how to bring this up without acting like he’s a bad guy? (cause he’s not, he’s nice and sweet but really, really shy)

One important part about making a relationship last a long time is communication. Figuring out how to communicate about how things are going in the relationship is the toughest and most worthwhile thing you can work on.
You could initiate a conversation with your partner by saying “Hey, I wanted to talk about how things are going with us. I really like when you do this and this, what are some things you like when I do. Is there anything you think we should work on?” And then “Could you do more of this and this?” 
You can also take the Love Languages quiz together and have a conversation about the ways you feel / give affection. For example, I appreciate physical affection and gift giving but to my gf quality time together is the most important

I thought it was amazing, until a year went past.. I had to hide the bruises and cuts from my parents, I had to smile through the pain, I had to laugh it off when I was cheated on and lied too... 
point being: first relationships are just lessons we learn from, so we can learn what love is and learn to love properly ❤️
