When to announce at church?

I teach the 7 to 8-year-olds at church and was wondering if and when I should tell them that I am pregnant. Should I wait until they ask me? How would you discuss it? Should I discuss it with their parents first?

I don't think you announce it per se.  Just go about your business and if they notice and ask, say yes there's a baby in my belly

I teach Kindergarten and I sent my kiddos parents an email the night before announcing to them and told them I would be telling their children the next day as a “big surprise”. Luckily all the parents kept it a secret, but a bunch came in saying how their parents had told them I had a surprise announcement and that they were excited to find out what it was. When I told them I was having a baby girl they were so excited! They have been SO into watching my belly get bigger each week and each week I give them the fruit/vegetable size comparison to baby so they have an idea of how big she is. Each week they want to know what fruit/vegetable she is and ask what she is growing/developing that week in my belly. It has been awesome seeing how into it my kiddos have gotten!

I teach preschoolers. And my daughter also goes to the preschool. When I was pregnant with my second my daughter wore a shirt that said being promoted to big sister and for show and tell I brought in a Doppler and showed them their heart beats and the Baby’s. When we found out it was a girl we took votes and brought in cupcakes with pink icing inside for the kids. They loved being involved with the pregnancy.

Well if it will eventually impact your work you should tell them at some point so they have a reasonable amount of time to find a replacement for you. I am a teacher and announced at 15 weeks when I started to show.

My situation is a little different because I work with the high schoolers, but we always close in a prayer circle. We usually ask the kids for prayer requests, but the time the person leading it said "say one thing your thankful for" and I said "I'm thankful JimJam (my son's nickname) will be a big brother in May." I was the last person to go before the priest closed it out and their faces were priceless. I felt like it was a good way to tell them without having to prepare what to say, just please pray for me and my new baby. I was around 10 or 11 weeks, but I had missed the week prior due to morning sickness and wanted them to know what was going on. I don't think 7 or 8 is too young for you to share the news with them. Maybe ask if any of the have baby brothers or sisters and then explain you're going to have a baby like their Mommy did.
