When did you start introducing toys to your baby? May be a silly question but I’m just trying to be prepared for when our babies come.

When do you start doing tummy time, I was looking into getting a baby gym/play mat and wasn’t sure if it was something we needed right away or not. Picture below for reference. (It is a 5 in 1 so I’m aware we won’t be setting up the ball pit any time soon)

We used our play mat for the first time today. My son is 2.5 weeks old. I was surprised to use it so soon but he loved it! We were told to start tummy time from birth, only for 30 seconds to a minute at first. I didn’t buy any toys but we were given some and I have clipped one onto his Moses basket to look at when he’s awake and he was actually hitting it (prob accidentally) but he loved it. Hope this helps 😊

We have this play mat

Our son loved it from newborn since it had lots of black and white things for him to look at. There’s a little picture card thing which he looked at during tummy time so that was nice. He’s 6 months now and still LOVES it... one of his favourite things to do is kick the little hedgehog until it plays the music, he’ll stop and listen and then kick again when the music finishes!
This is him at 2 months when he started holding rattles - we found these little wooden ones worked best as his little hands could actually hold on to it unlike the soft ones.

Now he’s teething he loves anything he can pick up and chew on. Nubby do some of his favourite teething toys - his particular favourites are the sweet corn and banana ones and the triangle one. 
He also likes anything with lights and likes this:

He loves opening and closing the doors on the activity centre, grabbing the dangly toys and is just starting to press the buttons.

It took a while before we did anything really.. As far as I remember we did tummy time after a few weeks. Around a month or two I would rattle things, but she couldn't really interact with a lot. I highly recommend oball to learn how to grab. My daughter is 9 months old and still loves her oball 😊

We started tummy time after his umbilical coed fell which was 4 days after birth and we introduced the play mate/gym a little after two months as he was more aware of his surroundings. He is almost three months and we will be introducing books to read to him

We started doing tummy time when the umbilical cord came off! He didn’t really interact with “toys” at that stage, but we had some black and white images for him to look at and a floor mirror to look at himself.
