Rather confused which to get weather to get any and just get normal pants

I would use the underwear during the day and the pull-ups at night. If you do pull-ups during the day, it will be similar to a diaper and it makes it more difficult for them to learn because they're staying dry and comfortable when they pee in the pull-up.

Like others said underwear during the day and pull ups or diapers at night or when sleeping. I used those training underwear with the extra padding in them for my son to start and then started realizing because of the extra padding he didn't see them being much different than diapers and confused him. So I switched him to regular underwear/boxers and worked way better for him.
