How fast can you get pregnant?

My son is now 6 weeks old.. I have already started having sex again with my fiance. I have no got my period yet since postpartum.. how long does it normally take to get that again, and what are my chances of getting pregnant since I haven't yet got my period which means I haven't ovulated?

You ovulate prior to getting your period so you can get pregnant before your period comes back.

Just cause you don’t have your period yet doesn’t mean you haven’t ovulated. You’re fertile after birth cause you can still be ovulating... if you’re breastfeeding, it could take longer to get a period back but it doesn’t stop ovulation either.

You’re the most fertile right after giving birth, so if your having unprotected sex there’s a good chance you could be pregnant. If your not ready for another baby right now, I strongly suggest using some type of birth control.

You can ovulate without getting a period and you still ovulate without one. I never got a pp period with my first pregnancy, nor my second. But I got pregnant both times (both much later and one planned.)
But it is not at all unheard of for women to already be pregnant at their 6 week pp appointment. You're really fertile after giving birth, period or no.

I’ve heard of a lot of women being pregnant by their 6 week postpartum appointment. If they can do it before 6 weeks  you can very much be pregnant now. I’ve also been told the body is really fertile after having a baby.

Are you breastfeeding? If you are breastfeeding full-time, then you probably will not get pregnant for at least 6 month postpartum. My midwife said if you pump some of the feeds that doesn’t always work. Not sure how true this is! Otherwise you can get pregnant pretty much right away. I breastfeed and didn’t get my period until 14 month pp!

After my second was born we had sex at 4 weeks pp after I was given the ok, then once again at 8 weeks pp, and I got pregnant again at 8 weeks pp! It can happen very quickly if you aren't protected!
