I want him to change it up

So I’m hooking up with this guy and one time in the summer I threw it out there that I wanted him to choke me and he said yeah for sure but we both went back to school and didn’t see each other until this winter break. When we hookup I want him to choke me but I’m afraid to ask again. Is it too bold to just put his hand on my neck next time? I’m afraid maybe he’s not into it and that’s why he’s not doing it
