Freaking out

Hi guys I saw a post similar to this one a couple of weeks ago, not sure if it was here, by either way I need to get some reassurance (hopefully).

I usually get cold sores every once in a while but haven’t since I was pregnant. Today while breastfeeding I noticed something that looked like a small cold sore on my nipple and immediately took my baby off the breast. It’s hard to tell if it really is a cold sore as it’s quite small and has a bit of a scab. I hope it hasn’t been there for a long time, I only just noticed it.

I couldn’t get a good photo and in any case I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow to see what she thinks but I wanted to know if there are any symptoms I should be looking out for in my daughter, and if it has happened to anyone else and their baby is ok. I know our babies are older but I’m freaking out. I’m also really sad because I wonder if this means I wont be able to breastfeed any future babies.

For now I’m thinking I’ll pump and dump on this side.
