How do I stop I stop co sleeping with my 6 month old?

Question

I know it’s not recommended but me and babe sleep better when he sleeps beside me but I feel like it’s time for him to start sleeping by himself. Any tips on how to get him to start sleeping in his crib? I’ll rock him to sleep and put him in the crib but as soon as he realizes where he is, he starts screaming/crying until I move him back to my bed. 
Any advice would be appreciated. 
I know not everyone agrees with co sleeping so please keep negative comments to yourself.

My little one sleeps on his belly in his crib, he never liked sleeping on his back since 2 weeks old. In my bed he will sleep anyway I lay him down. So I softened up his bed/crib. I put a soft plush blanket under the sheet and he sleeps so much better now that it’s not a cold hard surface.  I spoke with his pedi and he gave me the “on the books” talk and the “I’m a parent too, off the books” talk. I took the advice but did what I knew would be best for my LO. He’s a little over 4 months and sleeps through the night  with no issues.

My baby now sleeps on a floor bed because he was wanting to sleep next to me and was waking up when I put him in his crib.
He sleeps on a bed like this.
I lay down with him; feed him, then get up and leave the room.
We all sleep much better and get a lot more sleep.
My son is 8 months and we transitioned to this bed around 6 months.

I always have to cuddle my son to sleep first lying in my bed or the couch then once hes asleep i have to wait awhile so hes in a deep sleep then i make the transition as quiet and with the least possible motion required to his bed then ill keep my hand on his belly for a bit so he feels me there. Every baby is different but that's what works for mine! ☺

Try anchoring his crib with one side off to the side of your bed. It’s a nice transition piece and after a while, once he’s used to sleeping in it, out the side back on then eventually move it into his own room.

I would suggest putting him down in his crib tired but awake. If he’s already asleep and he wakes up to find you’re not there anymore then there will be tears. Start with naps maybe and move to nighttime sleep, that might be an easier transition.

I just lay him in the crib more frequently and he’s started sleeping in it better.  Some nights I get him to sleep in there the first few hours.  That’s what I did with my first and eventually she slept all night in there.
