SIDS question?

My son is 1 month old and he hates to lay on his back he would prefer to be on his side or stomach. I am terrified to put him in his crib or bassinet at night in fear of SIDS. So he sleeps in the bouncer at night. And during the day while I’m watching his every move he sleeps in the bassinet on his tummy or side just fine. All of my mom friends/ younger moms say I should never let him sleep on his side or stomach but my family/ older moms say let him sleep how he wants to sleep. How do you let your babies sleep???

I always put mine on his back. He doesn't love being on his back alone in the crib, but from past experience, he will get used to it.

My daughter rolls into her side to sleep, has since she was born. It’s okay as long as they are putting themselves there because they can move themselves if they need to rearrange. Just don’t swaddle, because that restricts their arms & then they can’t move if they need to. It’s much safer than the bouncer

My baby has rolled to his side since a couple days old. They weren’t concerned in the hospital about it so I didn’t worry either.

Their side is usually okay as long as you have blankets supporting baby’s back and belly so baby can’t roll onto their tummy. My daughter sleeps best laying on her tummy on my chest. So sometimes I just put her in the carrier and do my housework and she sleeps. She also sleeps in the snuggle me pretty well

My daughter has been able to roll onto her side since she was born. It’s okay! When they have the ability to roll a bit that means they have the ability to turn away or move if they need more air. Just lay your baby down on their back and if they roll it’s okay. 
Unfortunately as others have said... letting a baby sleep in a bouncer unattended (while you are also sleeping) is actually more dangerous then letting them sleep on their side or even their tummy. Our bouncer specifically stated in the manual to NEVER do that, even accidentally.

I was told baby could sleep on side or belly as long as your watching them. But not when you are sleeping as well. I was also told if baby rolled on there side on there own it was okay for them to sleep like that.

I let my baby sleep on his side because he hates sleeping on his back. Is your bassinet beside your bed? Try putting him on his side at night instead of the bouncer. Hope it helps!

The nurses in L&D told me if your baby insists on sleeping on it’s side or back to let them. There’s an increased risk of SIDS but if mom and baby are sleep deprived that is dangerous too. There are mattresses you can get that are breathable - pricey but I was ready to buy it if my baby was a stomach sleeper. It’s called Newton I believe. It’s a mesh that allows air to flow through
