Baby food and WIC?

So I have a question for you ladies. I use WIC to buy formula with (which is a lifesaver!) and when my son turned six months they decreased the amount of tins of formula I could get and added baby food. But my son drinks just as much formula as he has been and the cans they do provide aren't cutting it now. Am I supposed to feed him less formula since he can eat food?

You can try to have your doctor write  letter stating that you need more formula and less baby food. It’s worth a shot

I’m on WIC too and they decreased mine from 10 cans to 7 and added baby food/cereal. I just buy extra throughout the month because the grocery store I go to always has coupons on her formula. You should still feed the same amount.

They did that to use also. The first month was hard because her milk is $30-32 a can, but me managed. We also budgeted it in for the following month. She has a nurse that comes out through the healthy start program and I told her the amount of milk she takes has decreased when she turned around 8 months. She said if she’s eating 3 meals a day plus snacks that’s normal. Not to be alarm as long as she’s getting at least 24 ounces a day.

No you're not supposed to feed him less. It's his main source of nutrition until he's 1.

I only get 7 cans now but I get about 32 containers of baby food. My girl drinks a lot as well and times we have to buy a few but every other feeding I give solids or milk and it helps.
