Thoughts on home birth?

I am due to have our 2nd baby at the end of March so it is time to get thinking about the birth "plan"! 
I am low risk so the midwife suggested I think about a home birth. I would really like a water birth this time but I know it's not certain that a pool will be free. Not sure if anyone knows of Frimley Park Hospital...but that is our hospital. 
I am debating hiring a birthing pool and having baby in the comfort of my own home but hubby is saying no because of 1. The mess he would probably have to clean and 2. If something were to go wrong we aren't in a hospital.
Has anyone here had a home birth pool experience? Would you recommend? Or not? Any birthing pool recommendations?

I loved having a home birth, even tho the first time mine was accidental there's was very little mess and also considering a home water birth with baby 2

Does the hospital not have the inflatable birthing pools? My hospital had like 12 of them so even if to you were in midwife led or doctor led unit they had them and could put them up quick. The same as you would have at home. 
Plus usually the midwife does a lot of the clearing up and that. Not that there is loads to do as the pool will have a liner thats take out etc

The way I saw it (and I mean, I elected for c section in the end, so a bit different 😂😂) if I was going for a vaginal birth I absolutely would have chosen to start at home.
I say START for a reason. The transfer to hospital rate is around 45%, maybe higher for first time mums. Purely because they don't take any risks, so the first sign of stress and you're blue lighted in.
So long as you're aware of that, and know it's a strong possibility, then I think it's a great idea to opt for home birth.
As soon as youre in labour they send a midwife to you. You then have one on one midwife support, in the comfort of your own home, until either you have a baby or until you need a bit more help.
I looked at it like that, if that makes sense. That yes please, I'd like to stay in my house as long as possible and have a cup of tea and a biscuit when I like, and then if or when it gets tough me and my personal midwife will go in.
I 100% was sold on the principle of getting the oxytocin to flow and being relaxed, and the environment you're in plays a huge role in that.
So yes, I would absolutely plan a home birth, and START at home x

I wouldn’t ever take the risk to be honest as however low risk they deem you to be, there could always be complications with baby or you. I talk from a place of experience - while I gave birth to my Daughter in hospital, it started as a pool birth and was all going well until they realised she was breached and it was too late for a c-section. I gave birth to her naturally, out of the water but she was stuck without oxygen for a long time and so needed a team of doctors to rush in when she was born to resuscitate and needed immediate cooling treatment in NICU to limit brain damage risk. I just wouldn’t take the chance personally!
