She’s here!

Kate

So I’m writing this because i finally got some time to sit down and write it, my little Amelia was born at 3:40 pm on 01/15/2020 weighing 7lbs 9.2oz and is 19 1/4 inches long.

So it started off I went in for my scheduled induction at 6 am i was being induced at exactly 39 weeks because of gestational hypertension. I was already 3cm dilated and 80% effaced so we started pitocin at about 7am. Every half hour they came in and increased my pitocin by 2 and it wasn’t really giving me any successful contractions, I say successful because they weren’t causing any cervical change. So they check me again at 12 and I’m only a 4 and the pitocin is at 18 at this point. The doctor had said if I hadn’t progressed by the next cervical check they were gonna break my water. 2 o’clock comes around and pitocin is at 26 at this point and my cervix still hasn’t changed even though I was having contractions every 2 minutes lasting almost a minute each. At 2:30 they broke my water and that’s when everything had really jumped into gear. My contractions started coming back to back and hurt really badly and from the beginning of my pregnancy I had said I didn’t want an epidural because I went all natural with my last 2 babies (I had regret that at that time) by 2:50 I was begging for any pain relief and my angel of a nurse had started a bag of fluids so we could try the epidural and the doctor came back to check me at 3:02 and I was 6 cm, fully effaced, and baby was at +2. They called anesthesia and anesthesia was busy with a trauma that had just been called in so they said I had to wait (at that point I knew it was too late because with my last 2 deliveries once it came down to my water breaking babies were born within the hour) my dear husband stood over me with a small fan to keep me cool because I was so hot and in so much pain my blood pressure was sky rocketing to 163/115 and contractions were coming fast and hard (side note: contractions on pitocin are no fuckin joke that shit is like contractions on crack) at 3:30 the doctors all heard me yelling because I was in immeasurable pain and I felt the baby descend right into my pelvis and I yelled at the doctors that she was coming and she was coming NOW, they checked me at 3:35 and I was 9cm and they said “no don’t push youre only 9!” And I said “well can I get the epidural then?” And she said “no we don’t have time” and I said to the doctors “fuck you guys then I’m PUSHING” and they yelled to my husband to grab my leg because I was crowning and in 2 pushes she was out.

It was the most surreal thing and I couldn’t believe she came out that fast. After she was born I looked at all the doctors and apologized for cussing them out and they laughed and said it was perfectly fine that they understood how I felt at that moment, they were all wonderful and so reassuring and my husband was a fantastic labor partner. During my induction I kept telling him to try to get some rest because he was anxious about the induction the night before and didn’t get any sleep 🥺 by the time she was born he had been up for 34 hours straight and he didn’t go to bed until 11 o’clock the night we gave birth. Such an angel
