Potty Training?

I’m a FTM and wondering at what age do you typically start potty training?

Sometimes before a bath I sit my daughter on the toilet. She's never done anything but she thinks it's funny 🤷🏻‍♀️

We will slowly introduce it at 1 1/2 but probably won’t actively potty train before 2.
We did the same with my son. But he wasn’t ready yet so we took a break from it and tried again until he was ready

My daughter is 22 months and she is just now showing some interest in the potty! She has asked us almost everyday to try the potty (only once a day for about a week) Most days she sits on it and does nothing and one time she pooped! We have a book we read to her some nights about the potty and we had the potty in the bathroom since probably a year. Before this she just took it apart and played with it, but it was a conversation piece 🤷🏻‍♀️ and got her used to it. She seems to only want to use it for number two right now, and I think it’s because she doesn’t like the feeling of it in her diaper (she tells us immediately after she poops now to get it changed!) that’s my experience thus far, she is our first so it’s just a guessing game right now!

In my experience, the best time is to wait till they are ready. If you try before then, you will get frustrated, and it will take weeks if not months. They honestly don’t even quite understand till 2. They don’t have that understanding of the feeling of needing to go till then. I tried around 18 months and it didn’t work. I waited till she gave me clues like, not wanting to be in a dirty diaper, curious about the potty etc. when I waited till that point it took a week for her to be potty trained. Bedtime too. She was 2 1/2. She even would get up at night and tell me she had to go potty. Don’t rush it. Wait till they understand it, and give you clues of being ready.
