Newborn allergic to dogs?

Question

So some background - me and my husband have two dogs (a miniature pinscher and a mutt) that we keep pretty well groomed. I’m allergic to dogs and get localized hives wherever they touch my skin but it usually doesn’t last long.
I had my baby 11 days ago and we’ve been super careful about our son and the dogs just to be sanitary. Well last night my husband forgot he was petting one of the dogs face/mouth and then he changed the baby. Immediately our son broke out in hives all over his body and they’re still there today. Does this mean he’s probably allergic? Also, even though we both think he reacted to the dogs now all he can say is “I’m not getting rid of our dogs” over and over like that’s all he cares about.
Advice? Input?

Ask your pediatrician? It’s kind of hard to tell what newborns are allergic to but if that’s the only thing you can think of it may be a possibility. 
As for the father.. that’s really a selfish thing for him to say. If your child is allergic to dogs you won’t get rid of the dogs for your child’s health?  Idk that’s selfish to me.

Could there have been a shampoo residue on the dogs that transferred to baby? Or anything else he used ? Soap, lotion, etc?  If it is the dogs and he won’t get rid of them, then they’re going to have to be in a separate area of the house and he’s going to have to change his clothes and wash going back and forth.  I’m allergic to cats and dogs but always developed an immunity to my own pets over time.  So that could be a possibility but if it’s severe, his child is more important than his pets, as hard as it is.

It is highly likely that like you, he is allergic to dogs. Be it fur, saliva or dandruff. I dont know what they do allergy tests but I would do that to confirm. My parents had a bird when I was a baby and as soon as They became aware I was allergic, they got rid of it. Husband needs to put your child first if you just have to get rid of them. I am allergic to birds, cats and dogs, and only once I got older I became immune? It doesnt affect me anymore.

My son is allergic to dog saliva but not any other part of the dog.  Didn’t even know this was a thing until he was liked by my sil dog at 3 months old.  He got tons of hives in the general area that lasted about a 20min.  We then had it confirmed with an allergist.  He now has an epi pen.
