My son's birth story

I enjoyed reading these before and during my pregnancy. So here is a little back story first.

My husband and I decided 4 years ago we wanted to start trying. I had my IUD removed. Nothing happened for 2 years. Last year in March I had a chemical pregnancy. Then in April I got pregnant with my son.

My pregnancy was completely normal until about 35 weeks. My son stopped moving and my blood pressure kept going up and down.

So finally after having high protein in my urine at 39 weeks. My doctor decided on January 7th at 39 weeks and 4 days I need to be induced. So I went to labor and delivery at 9am and got hooked up to an IV. Then at about 9:45 I got cervidil put in. I wasn't dilated or even soft. So my OB didn't think much would happen.

They took it out at 7:45 that night because the nurse with the longest fingers was leaving for the night. So I didn't get 12 hours of it but it got me to almost 2cm. My contractions picked up by themselves. So I got into the tub around 12am for about an hour. I got to 3cm.

Then I got about 3 hours of sleep. Then my OB came in the next morning to check me and I was at 4cm. I was asked about the epidural and said no I dont want it. At about 12pm i decided I need rest so I said I wanted the epidural and my doctor wanted to start pitocin. So I got the epidural and it only took on my right side. They tried fixing it but it didn't work. My son heartrate started dropping with every contraction. So I looked at my OB and said I want a c section. He said let me see what we can do. He had me roll on my right side so we could get his heartrate back up.

At 12:40 my OB came back in and was like are you sure you want a c section. I looked at him and said yes I'm done.

He checked me one last time and I was still at 4cm. So he called the OR and i could go down at 1:30pm. they stopped my contractions and got me ready.

I was completely fine having a c section. Got down to the OR and had to remove all my piercings my husband got dressed. They took me in. Got my epidural removed and got a spinal. My spinal didn't take all the way so I got some sleepy drugs.

My husband had to stay out in the recovery room. I got to wake up to the most amazing sound. My son crying. He was blue when he was born. The cord was wrapped around his neck 2 time and he got stuck on the birth canal. He weight 8 pounds 8oz and was 20.5 inches long. He was born on January 8th at 2:32pm.

A nurse brought him over to me so I could see him and give him a kiss. Then he went upstairs with daddy. I was in recovery for 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

I got back up to labor and delivery and I got to push a button because he was the first baby of the new year for the hospital. Then I got to hold him as they finished getting my room ready.

This was taken once in my room. I was told to stay in bed for the first night. Then the next day I was up and moving like nothing happened. I am healing up very well. I was only in the hospital for 2 days after my c section. My son is now 2 weeks old. Not sure where the time went.
