Did you sleep train your baby?

Question

Curious to know how everyone has approached sleep with their babies. Comment your reasons for your decision.

I didn’t exactly sleep train him, but would have if needed. He just gradually started sleeping longer increments. I started following takingcarababies on Instagram and paying attention to wake windows/feeding and making sure he got all the food he needed prior to bed time. Now he sleeps from 7-8 pretty consistently. If he is having problems sleeping or is fussy i will let him cry a few minutes and usually by 2-3 minutes he is out cold in his crib

No, but not because I am against it. He just slowly started sleeping longer on his own and now he sleeps 8-6 straight.  But if he wouldn’t have done it on his own I definitely would have sleep trained.

I was adamant that I wouldn’t. After 9 months of working full time and sleeping no time, I tried something different. Then when it started again I did it even harder at New Years. We’ve been sleeping through the night since then and it’s been glorious and healthy and best for everyone. It’s hard as shit though. But the hard part doesn’t last long.

We’ve had to do it twice nice...baby girl started waking up in the middle of the night around 8/9 months, so we sleep trained using the Ferber method and it totally worked after about 4 nights. I refuse to let her scream for long periods of time but also wanted her to learn that she isn’t alone and teach her how to fall asleep on her own. She’s going through it again, waking anytime between 1-4 now, so I change her diaper, and depending on how much she ate before bed, I’ll give her a small bottle, and down she goes. Sometimes it takes a little bit, sometimes she goes right to sleep.

I lived 2,000 miles from any family and my husband was gone a lot because he's in the Navy, so after 5 months of postpartum anxiety and not sleeping at all, I broke and sleep trained him. We used a program called Sleep Sense and it saved my sanity. It worked the first night. He only woke once to eat until he was 10 months and then he started sleeping 6-6, no waking. I swore I'd never let him cry, but I needed to save my own mental health so I could be the best mom possible. As soon as we started sleeping again and my husband came home, my postpartum flipped off like a switch.

with a babywise schedule during the day my daughter started sleeping through the night by 10 weeks and hasn’t ate during the night since. i rocked to sleep every night. recently tho it’s taking absurdly long to rock to sleep and she’s been awake at night and doesn’t want to go back to the crib so she would go in my bed. tonight i started sleep training and it’s going good so far. i’m excited to get my evening time and my bed back

Yes and then the 9mo sleep regression hit and also really bad anxiety so now we r gonna hafta try again 🤦

Yep we had a great sleep until about 4 months and then she would wake up twice a night ready to party and eat. We trained at 5 and a half months. My marriage and job were suffering. I couldn’t function. 
We had really great sleep habits early on so I feel like we had it “easy” when it came to training. Never cried longer than 5 mins before she got herself back to sleep.

We Ferbered at 7 months because she wasn’t falling asleep on her own. And she was waking up several times a night in a panic. 4 nights after starting Ferber she was sleeping through the night. She was always a sleeper, and the constant waking up was making her miserable. 
She sleeps usually 12 hours at night with no wake ups and has recently gone down to a single 1 hour nap during the day. A few times a week she will take an extra 30 nap in the afternoon.

I'm a stay at home mom of one so I can nap when she naps. But when I first brought her home she slept beside my side of the bed. It was okay but I couldn't hear her move and she would cry to wake me up. My husband got tired of her waking up every 30 minutes to an hour so he put her in the bed with us. After she started bed sharing with us she started sleeping longer and better. So she's stayed in the bed with us and sleeps 9-10 hours at night.
