Much like; a pessimistic boss crushes moral and productivity in an office, a grumpy teacher made you hate a subject, a charismatic coach gave you a love of the game, a passionate speaker made you believe in yourself, calm parent fosters a tranquil household. 
The leader in each situation set the tone of their environment.
Do you believe that is also true of the Office of the President?
Does the president's behavior and demeanor set the tone for the social behavior for the majority of the country's populous?

No, the majority of the country is generally not crazy and acting out no matter who is president. The problem is that the media takes snippits and clips out of context and makes things seem bigger than that are.

Depends on what you mean. A leader most certainly *affects* the tone, but people react in an individual basis. To use one of your examples, a parent who is easily angered and loses their temper will indeed affect the household. But one child may react by withdrawing and becoming timid, even with others outside the home, afraid to set someone off. Another might lash out in other social situations, instead.
A president, for example, can create an overall sense of disarray or a sense of unity. But how an individual reacts to specific sociopolitical situations will be based on who they are as a person.

I think the presidents attitude definitely influences the majority of that nations population. With President Trump, we notice some people being outspoken with hatred and stating that President Trump has their backs. Trump himself is crass and quick to be bothered. I think that influences many. I believe a lot of people find his behavior to be unpredictable and alarming, which adds insecurity to the nation.

Yes, to a degree. History shows that leaders do affect the population. Is there personal responsibility? Sure. Depending on the regime, people can only do so much. A leader affects the environment people live in, which can affect their actions/inactions. 
It takes a lot to change systems, particularly systems/policies that feed off of beliefs of the populace. Both leader and populace affect each other, but I think the leader can still hold more sway, because they are in an authoritative position.

Leaders set the tone on what is permissible and what is aspirational. There is a reason why executives and HR departments stress the importance of "corporate culture" and modeling the type of behavioral standard they want to see everyone adhere to. If you see the "leader" putting rules on you that they don't need to follow, it undermines their authority and engenders mistrust. People start to think "why do I have to do XYZ when clearly the boss doesn't think it's important to stick to??"
This is what a "social contract" is all about --everyone follows a broad set of rules for the benefit of the common good. When one person, especially the leader of said group, flounts the rules, others gradually start to ignore them as well, and social order breaks down.
When a leader has integrity and models the behavior they expect from others, it engenders pride & responsibility. People want to do an be better when the person "in chatge" takes that role seriously.
