At home purple hair color! Any advice? 😬

Question

I was trying to dye my dark/medium brown hair to a dark purple color. (Dark brown is so hard to color without doing it professionally $$$ ☹) I bought a permanent purple dye and 30 developer from the beauty store and went at it. Not really surprised, my hair came out a more reddish/plum color rather than the dark purple I wanted. Dont hate it, but really just want the purple!😒😫
Is there a way to use a another purple dye to go over this color to try to achieve the color I want? Posting pics below of the products I used, my original hair color, the color I want and the color I got... 
the new purple dye I've ordered is supposedly the same used in the picture of the hair color I want... although I am skeptical because it does appear to have a few different shades of purple which I'm sure a box dye cant do... any hair experts out there that can give me any advice?
And... Is it even possible to get this color without going to a salon/professional?

Hello. I am a lisence cosmetologist and can tell you that girl did not achieve that look with that color orrrr she was extremely blonde with different shades in her hair prior.
The second color you bought is a 3:19. "3" being your level, which is very dark "19" being your tones which is brown violet.  With that being said I agree with the other commenter that I think you will get a purple shine to your hair.

Your hair looked very nice, but if your hair color was a lighter color,I think it's would take the color more...because it's easier for light to go dark.

I'm going to say no, you are going to have to lighten your hair. It may tint your hair so that it will look purple in some lighting but it won't be very vibrant.  
I've colored my hair purple multiple times and I've had to lighten it every time or it would just look super dark almost black which is not what I wanted. We have almost the same hair color might I add.
I usually go the semi to demi permanent route since it damages your hair less with all the bleaching you have to do. Plus as long as it is a direct dye you can leave it in your hair as long as you want. (Manic panic , arctic fox, etc..)
Your hair does not need to be a super light blonde to get a good result with purple especially if it's dark. I will insert a few pictures of my hair when it was purple to give an example.
Also do not take the things Sally's employees say as gospel. They do not have their cosmetology license so some might just be trying to sell you a product. Granted I'm not a cosmetologist either but my grandmother is.
