When do you tell your child your expecting??

Question

I have a 5 year old who is dying to become a big sister!  Her wish has finally come true but when do We tell her??  I want to surprise the rest of our immediate family with her announcing on a shirt but don’t want to jump the gun. So any advice/ideas.  I waited til I was 8 weeks for immediate family last time and 12 weeks for everyone else. But I know if she knows everyone will!!

I personally wouldn't tell until after confirmed heartbeat and you're okay with her telling everyone. We lost our 3rd pregnancy unexpectedly at 9 weeks but hadn't told our other 2 yet. Next pregnancy we told them at 10 weeks but really told them that it's for family only....well they told everyone anyway. Like people we don't even talk to. ....walking down the street, they told the neighbors we don't know. At their school, they told the security guard and teachers they don't even know lol

When we were having our second we told our 9 yr old son at 8 weeks.

We told our 4 year old after my first ultrasound at 9 weeks to make sure everything was ok

Id wait till after you had a first proper scan and confirmed everything ok. I lost my baby in Sept last year and I had already told my 4 year old and he was absolutely  heartbroken:( just didnt understand. I'm pregnant now with my rainbow and I'm keeping quiet till I seen that beautiful little bean on a proper scan xx

Hi! I’m on my second pregnancy I’ll be 7 weeks tm! My daughter is also 5 soon to be 6 but I really didn’t wait to tell her I mean really I took 4 test in the spans of 24 hours and I told her ASAP she was a little confused and had that ek face but she’ll come around! My sister is 8 and she was beyond happy! I’d go ahead and tell her!!!! Best luck

I have a 14yr old, who has wanted a sibling since her was very young. And as much as I would have loved to give him a sibling, earlier, I divorced his Dad and was dating jerks who were not suitable to be the father of my kid(s). SO, here I am 14yrs later, remarried a great man and when we told our son (at about 6 weeks) he was so excited. It warms my heart to see my teen (who is very much a TEEN) get so excited about being a big brother. He’s taking SexEd in school and came home one day explaining how I might feel cravings soon...😒🙄 I thanked him for the warning...🤗
