Cold sore on 20 mo old?

Edit: also what virus is it possible to get from them as a newborn? I’ve got a 7 week old. 😫

My husband says yes :( he's had them since he was little. His mom had them, so he may have drank after her or something and he still deals with it to this day.Usually it will bubble but then you can also see little dots too. 
He says best thing to do is teach him to not pick them. Because then it'll spread and be worse. And he said keep them cleaned cuz if it gets infected it'll be worse on little baby.

I’m not sure if it’s a cold sore but yet it can be passed, keep him away from your newborn simply because kids don’t know not to pick it and I believe it can be passed that way.

Looks like a cold sore just monitor it and everyone can get cold sores it happens keep it clean if any other symptoms pop up just take him but call doctor and say you believe he has a cold sore so they can tell you what to watch for
