Is two middle names too many? Hubby wants Terrance Gregory for middle name.

My husbands side of the family always uses the grandpas two names for the first sons middle names. So my husband has two middle names after his grandpas, his dad as well, etc etc. he is so so set on doing this but I just don’t love the idea of two middle names. Is it too many? I love the meaning of it but Terrance Gregory just sounds like a mouthful.

I have two middle names that are family names and I absolutely love it. I’m giving my daughter two family oriented middle names as well. My husbands side of the family has made some annoying comments about it but I don’t care because i love it.

We do 2 middle names. My son is called Nathaniel Adrian Aziz (first, middle, middle). Aziz was picked by the Turkish family so he had a Turkish name they could refer to him as. If I have a daughter she will be Liara Diane with a Turkish name for a second middle name also (she will be 4th generation Diane). I like the flow better with 2 middle names to be honest.

It’s tradition in my family! My sisters name is amelia elizabeth Cheyenne. Her name is so long they have to abbreviate her initials on her license 🤣 But dont let anyone talk you out of what you want to do!

Maybe a good compromise would be having shorter middle names?
I personally agree with you that it seems unnecessary & excessive, but those two names are particularly unwieldy. If you guys can find a pair of middle names that aren't so long, maybe it will bother you less. I do think middle names are mostly about meaning anyway, so it's kind of nice that it's based on a family tradition.

In the grand scheme of things I don’t think it’s a big deal. Realistically your son will decide which names he’ll use. My husband doesn’t use his middle name at all on any legal documents

My kids have two middle names! Honestly I don't see why people are so against it, the second middle names are almost never used anyways 🤷‍♀️ my kids are Estella Charlotte Arwen and Caspian Eli Ashton 😁

If it matters, in some states you have to pick one only for your ID & other documents or accounts. I kept my maiden as a second middle and ran into this issue. 😕
