Weird bleeding

This morning I woke up and there was blood on the bed as though I had started my period so I have put a pad in. No more blood has come out for the rest of the day. The same thing happened two weeks ago. Any ideas what this could be? I am not on birth control (had my last Depo injection September 2018) and having unprotected sex but not certain if I’m ovulating.
