Is anyone really ready?

Question

My boyfriend and I have been together almost 4 years now. We want to start a family and have been trying but we have family and friends telling us we need to save up, eliminate all dept and own a house before...but is anyone ever really fully prepared?

My husband and I waited until we were fully prepared, yes. We both have great careers, a house, and a large amount in savings. I had no interest in ever bringing a child into the world that I wasn’t 100% able to support and provide the best I could for.

We waited, got married, own a nice large comfortable home and have zero debt and a substantial savings. So we were very ready. I’m glad we waited!

I personally feel you should be financially independent, have your own home (renting or owning), and have a stable relationship to have a child. There’s also the fact that both parents should be mentally and emotionally stable before bringing a child into their life

Yes, my husband and I have saved money, have a retirement account, 401K, a house, a will, and built a strong foundation of wedded bliss. In addition, we both have careers, I'm almost done with graduate school, we have disposable income, and both sides of our family are great support systems. We also talked about and agreed on discipline techniques, schooling, and both our duties when we have a kid. 
So, yes, we've been very proactive in getting ready for a child.

As long as you both are ready emotionally ready and you will have a stable roof over your head (not living with parents unless you all live together by choice) and can live comfortably (bills paid, health insurance, and food ) then I consider that ready. There would be a lot of people without kids if everyone waited for that “perfect” moment

We waited until we had no debt, everything was paid off, and hubby is making enough for me to stay home. We were ready and we are so happy with our sweet baby boy

My partner and I aren’t in the most ideal financial state to be TTC BUT we both are working hard to get there and after our miscarriage last June, it’d be too emotionally devastating on both of us to just give up

I feel like no ones really ready for their life to totally change by bringing a child into the world, but you can definitely take steps to prepare. Like pay off debt, have a stable living situation, jobs, insurance, extra money for supplies, day care etc. once all that is lined up, there really is no way to be fully ready. 
My husband and I had bought our house about 2 years ago and paid off a decent sum of debt in the 6 months in the time before we started trying. I’m 31 weeks pregnant and even though we “prepared” with our nursery all set up, all baby supplies bought and extra items we don’t necessarily need, I still don’t feel ready.

That's exactly what my husband and I did. House and two newer vehicles are owned with 0 debt. Both have successful careers with a great savings account and assets. Then we started ttc.
