PCOS diagnosing

Back in September, I was seen by my now primary dr. She was going thru my medical history, and had asked me if I had ever been diagnosed with PCOS. I have had ovarian cysts a few times in the past, had been seen by a few different drs for them, but PCOS had never come up in the past. That day, my dr told me that I have PCOS. No testing or bloodwork or anything.

Is this a normal way to be diagnosed?

After talking with a friend of mine, she has encouraged me to seek further diagnoses. I am following up with my primary care dr tomorrow afternoon to ask her if she can explain her reasoning for this diagnosis to me with no real testing. This has been an emotional heart break for me the last 4 months and I really just need some answers.
