Copper IUD

So I had the copper IUD fitted 1 week ago, it was uncomfortable to say the least but tolerable, and I had the usual cramps etc. I have been bleeding consistently since I had it fitted also. Just yesterday and today though, the crampy pains have turned to almost sharp/shooting pains that are almost unbearable and I have to take a considerable amount of painkillers to get rid of them... is this normal? Or could it possibly be moved out of place or something? What’s everyone’s else’s experience with it?
