I have a very specific way I make mine. Cook with water. I'm allergic to milk and imo it makes it gummy anyway. Cook rather thick then add brown sugar, salted butter, fruit or nuts and chocolate and some vanilla coconut milk coffee creamer(cold)as the last step.

I do steel cut oats with almond milk topped with almonds

I use water. I like it to be on the firmer side. I add a pinch of salt, teaspoon of honey, coconut, ground flax seeds, chai seeds, walnuts or pecans and blueberries. Sometimes I add cinnamon. No milk needed. 🙂 Going to go make some now! 😋
