Stopped breathing during coughing attack :(
Hi ladies!!
I posted this in May 2019 baby group but I’d like as opinions as possible!!
My little one has recently been diagnosed with Bronchiolitis for the third time in her 8 months. This time is by far the worse. We do breathing treatments with a nebulizer every 5 hours and pedi gave us a decongestant. We try to suction boogies once an hour but everytime we really don’t get a lot out. We use saline drops and the nose frida. We tried the bulb but it seems to get less out.
Last night I heard her coughing hard and I got up to check on her, as I walk into her room she becomes silent and I see her thrashing her arms, legs, and head. She was sleeping on her stomach and it appeared that she coughed up mucus, it got stuck in her airway and was actually choking on it. I grabbed her and starting patting her back kind of hard. She was finally able to dislodge the mucus and started breathing again but it was absolutely terrifying!! What if I wouldn’t have gone to check on her?? Would she have been able to dislodge it and start breathing again?!
The night before she had a fever of 103.9, but during the following day, it didn’t get above 100.
We use a humidifier in her room. And like I said, are doing breathing treatments but her amount of mucus doesn’t seem to be getting better. We are having trouble getting boogers out of her nose and it seems most of her mucus is in her lungs??
Hopefully getting her into the pediatricians office again tomorrow to see if there’s anything else we can do.
Does anyone have any experience with this??
thank you! 💗
