Are camera baby monitors necessary?

They are just SO expensive and if a old fashioned non camera one works fine does it matter??

It’s really depends on your own feelings. I liked to be able to see my kids and see that they were breathing and moving. I also liked to see what they were doing if they woke up in the middle of the night. Sometimes they were still laying down and fussy, so I left them. But if they were standing and fussy, I would go in

For me, yes a camera is necessary, but it all depends what you are comfortable with.

We registered for this camera after multiple friends raved about it. It's not marketed as a "baby monitor", probably why it's not $200. You do have to use an app for the live footage, there's no handheld component included.

I used the sound only for night time and things of that nature. But now that my son is in a toddler bed I’m glad I have to camera monitor because I can see what he’s doing if i hear him making noise.

I think it depends on the age. It’s been really useful having a camera as my girl has got a little older as you can tell if she’s standing up in her cot (which normally means need to go in and settle her) or if she’s just having a moan and lying down (which normally means she will be asleep pretty soon). Guess it’s preference.

I love having a camera to see my kids when they're little, but they arent necessary at all unless there are medical reasons. You know just as soon that baby needs you with a sound monitor, plus it can be easier to set up and find a spot in the nursery when you dont have to strap a camera to the wall to get a good view.

Not necessary. We got one for medical reasons. But it has come in handy since he still shares the same room as us.
