Dilation means nothing

Lora

Everyone. Unless you are having active, regular contractions, dilation does not mean anything. Like every other post is about dilation. It’s completely not an indication/indicator to when you’ll go into labour. Get it out of your mind! I know it’s hard as we all get close to the end, and we want to grasp at any hope that baby is coming soon, but all getting your cervix checked for dilation does it possibly introduce bacteria to your cervix which can lead to infection and risk your dr/midwife accidentally breaking your water causing you to need to delivery your baby early.

I mean this with lots of love, I don’t want to see people getting there hopes up just to sit at 2,3, even for cms dilated for weeks and cause you to feel like you should be induced when you really don’t need to be, or feel disappointment everyday that passes and you don’t have your baby yet. <3 Having your baby at 40 weeks is the norm, that’s the average time baby takes to come. It’s not an expiration day or an eviction day it’s a best guess.
