Diagnosed MMC and now HB found
To cut a very long story short:
I was told in a private scan at 7+2 that I'm having a missed miscarriage (anembryonic). Follow up at NHS EPU 3 days later and they found a fetal pole so told to wait 10 days. During the wait I went to a private scan with an obstetrician who diagnosed with certainty a missed miscarriage (no heartbeat and yolk too big). On my follow up scan at the NHS 5 days later where I thought I’d be able to finally take medical management they found an embryo with a heartbeat and a second yolk measuring a normal size. However the baby is measuring 2 weeks and 5 days behind. The embryo had measured 2.5mm with no HB with the obstetrician and then 6.5mm with HB 5 days later at EPU.
I am dumbfounded. The Sonographers at the EPU were not concerned as the growth over the past 2 weeks has been normal for a baby now measuring 6+3 (was meant to be 9+1) and that I must have ovulated later. However I would have had positive pregnancy tests before I would have ovulated. They suggested maybe I’d had a cyst causing a false positive pregnancy test and then I got pregnant after I already thought I was pregnant. It just seems far fetched and I’m worried they’ve give me false hope.
I cannot wait 2 more weeks for my NHS follow up as it’s already been 2 weeks of limbo and coming to accept that I’d miscarried and I really just want to prepare myself for the worst if this is not viable. My head is spinning and the anxiety is just unbearable. The sonogprahers at nhs said don’t get any more scans and expose baby more than need to but this is torture.
