Belly button?

Hey I just had a baby 3 days ago and I gave him a sponge bath I tried my hardest to make sure his belly button did not get wet but I'm not sure if water touched It.
Can anyone please tell me if his belly button looks like it's healing or drying up like it's suppose to?? I'm concerned as to what to do.

Looks a little red but should be fine! Watch for heat, discharge, and odour.

It looks a little red. I doubt it is from water but maybe from his shirt irritating it. Maybe trying taking him out of the clothes and wrapping loosely in a warm blanket. Never feel bad for calling his dr if you have questions. Has he had his newborn checkup with the pediatrician yet? You are doing a great job! Congratulations on your little one.

It looks a little irritated but fine. Doctors would tell you to just leave it alone so give it some time it should get better on its own and if it doesn’t then maybe speak to someone about it
