BUT when i’m on top i can never tell when he cums??? like it’s pretty easy to tell when he’s the one doing the work, but when i’m in control it’s really difficult to tell. i don’t want it to get awkward if i keep going after hes, you know, done. am i the only one?

Hmm it wouldnt hurt to let him know that. Vaginas can't feel absolutely everything all the time so he shouldn't really take offense to it, and maybe he can let you know if he orgasms.
Its def harder for me to tell when my guy cums when I'm on top, too but he has a lot of vocal cues during and then it takes a second for the cum and gravity to do its thing lol so I can feel it not too long after. Dicks also get a bit sensitive so if you're going too fast maybe he'll indicate the weird feeling he has after orgasming
