Tdap?

Question

I am strongly wanting to encourage all family members that want to spend time with my newborn (she will likely be a week to 2 weeks early) to get the tdap shot. My entire side of the family has done it. My husbands side of the family isn’t so willing. I want to stand my ground and require it. Are you??

My doctor was fairly new back in 2017 when i had my 2nd. He encouraged me to have family get the shot. This time he gave me the tdap at 29 weeks. I asked who needed vacinated (i have a 9 and 2 year old) he told me just myself. He said giving me the shot would allow the antibodies to build in baby's system prior to delivery.

They only need it once every 10yrs so as long as they have had it in that time frame there is no need to get another

Didn’t “require” it for our first, not “requiring” it for this time either. 
To be honest, you’d be surprised what even fully vaccinated adults aren’t immune to anymore, and no one knows unless they have their titers pulled. For instance, i found out during pregnancy that I was not MMR immune even thought I was vaccinated. 
People can use common sense and proper hand washing procedures in my opinion. We just asked that people not spit in baby’s mouth. He’s a happy healthy 10 month old.

Absolutely. Both pregnancies I required visitors to have their TDAP Shot, especially if visiting and holding baby within the first two months. To me, it’s just not worth the risk 🤷🏻‍♀️￼￼

I am in this exact same situation. My family did my husbands did not. They will not be seeing my child for long periods of time until she’s vaccinated and I’m standing my ground. I’m due April 2nd that’s still the tail end of the flu and respiratory season. All of them work with the general public at a grocery store where they encounter hundreds of people a day. They can see her but they won’t be holding her or spending long amounts of time. 🤷🏼‍♀️ and they’re aware of this as well as still wont get vaccinated so.

I've already asked for my family to get it.  And if anybody's been sick then they are not welcomed to come . Especially the Flu.

I’ll most likely have my baby 36-37 weeks... non of our family lives where we do but are coming down when I tell them she’s coming.... I told them I’d appreciate it if they could get it if not just don’t be sick... but also my family has a bunch of medical issues a certain family members can’t add shots like that without if really messing with them.

It’s your child. You have the right to stand your ground. I just don’t let hardly anyone hold my babies so it’s a non issue. 😄
