Long story

So tonight I was making dinner and I realized that I didn’t have any BBQ sauce (kind of important for BBQ sandwiches) so I went to the store up the road from my house. I walk in and of course I always get distracted so I’m in the baby area and this woman comes to me and ask if I could help her get a box a diapers. She explains that she had to pay her rent and water and that she had food stamps but she didn’t have cash to get diapers. So idk I felt bad and told her I would get her a pack (not a box) of diapers that had like 32 (size 3). She actually got mad said that isn’t going to help me and stomped off. I was kind of just in awe but was like whatever and I grabbed my sauce and went to the front to pay. While I’m standing and check out the woman (who asked for diapers) is walking towards the front with two big boxes of Huggies. So I think oh she found someone to pay for them, but no. She actually ran out of the store and tried to jump in her car, but the loss prevention people had stopped her and brought her back in the store. She see me and starts yelling at me that, that it was my fault because I’m “too stuck up to help anyone” I paid and left while they called the cops. I was kind of upset (I’m not really sure why) when I got home so I told my husband about it. I mean I know that nobody is expected to help anyone, but should I have just agreed to buy the boxes?? I kind of feel bad that the woman most likely went to jail but it’s not really my fault. Idk 😐 I guess I just wanted to share my crazy evening.
