When to change car seats

Question

When did you change your LO to a different car seat?
My son is 23lbs 31 inches and over a year old and still in a infant car seat. His legs dangle off the car seat which doesn’t look comfortable. Just wondering when I need or should change car seats

The car seat should have weight and height limits on the seat or at least online. Newborns can be in a convertible seat so you can go ahead and get a convertible one (still rear facing though).

What seat is he in? My infant seat maxed out at 30lbs or 30inches.   I moved my son to his convertible by 10 months because he seemed squished

I had to switch from infant to convertible after a car wreck when my daughter was 5 months. She was growing out of it anyways because she was born pretty long but convertible car seats are amazing in my opinion when it comes to safety and durability.

I had to switch my daughter out of the infant seat at around 9 months. The weight was giving me bruises on my arms & hips. So I switched her to the graco 4ever. I love it. I’m definitely getting another one for my son when he’s about the same age too. I’m waiting till cyber Monday in November to buy another one. My daughter has been so content in it. I actually think she liked riding in the car better because of her new comfy seat.

My daughter was switched over at 3 months. No way was I gonna carry a 20lb baby in an infant carrier. But it sounds to me like hes too big for the carseat he is in. Is his head off the edge too? I definitely would have switched a long time ago.

I switched at 8 months, to a convertible car seat. He just now weighs 23lbs at 18 months. Most convertibles can be used from 5lb on

We switched around 6-7 months. We just didn’t want to carry them around anymore and they liked the bigger seat to see more.
