Walkers? Opinions! :)

Question

So what's everyone opinion on walkers? I know theres mixed reviews on using one. That it slows baby devlopment of walking, and crawling etc. 
I know our babies are getting to that age for one. 
So.. Opinions? Gonna use one? Why or why not?

We didn’t use one with my daughter and she was walking independently at 10 months 🤷🏻‍♀️ walkers are horrible for their hips and legs, can hinder their ability to actually walk on their own because they don’t learn how to properly carry their own weight. Their not recommended anymore. We won’t be using one for this baby either.

Drs against them. Both of my children used them and so will this one.
Ive never had a bad experience with walkers.
Also if they were so horrible they would be banned and not recommended not to use them

One of the issues with walkers is that if your baby isn’t old enough to walk with a push along walker, there’s a fair chance their up on their tip toes. Walking on the tip toes from a young age can cause issues with their muscles because they’re not flat footed with how they’re baring weight.

I used one with my Nov 2017 son when he was around 6 months. He had no issues. He was crawling everywhere (very fast) around 6-7 months. He started walking around 9/10 months unassisted. (It is amazing to see and I got it on video!)

Met with an pediatric OT that was highly against a walker for the reasons that you stated plus a few others. Won’t be getting one since baby doesn’t need it. But every mama can make those decisions based on what’s best for their lifestyle and family! I know there are families who use them and their kids are fine!

I think that just like with any other baby gadget, precautions need to be taken. Blocking the stairs and being mindful of your baby’s location while in a walker is key. Also, not leaving them in there for long periods of time is important. I used one with my first, she walked at 11.5 months. As long as they’re used appropriately, I don’t see an issue.
