Castor oil experience?

Hi ladies, I'm now 41+3 and getting desperate. Midwives suggested castor oil, but I am nervous about making myself sick. Considering trying it the day before my scheduled induction Friday as a last ditch effort.
Did it work for you? Good experience, terrible experience, any tips?

I was 70 percent effaced and 3 cm dilated at 39 weeks and my doctor okayed me to try castor oil. I made it into a milkshake by using 2 ounces castor oil, half a pint of very chocolatey ice cream (nothing low fat), some milk, and a couple healing spoons of peanut butter. I drank it at about 8:30 at night. The next morning at 4 or so I began to feel uncomfortable and couldn't sleep so I took a bath. At 6 my contractions were able to be timed and they were coming fast. I got to the hospital around 8 to find out I was 4 cm dilated and I had my son at 9:48. I think castor oil only works if you're already along in terms of effacement and dilation. You can get castor oil in the laxative section of most stores, btw. Don't use the stuff you find in the hair care aisle. It tastes a lot like melted chapstick but I was able to get it down without any trouble. I also didn't have diarrhea or anything like some women say. I had one normal bowel movement which was a great because I was constipated lol. Good luck!

You could also try Midwives brew so you aren't taking straight castor oil. But if you do take straight castor oil, break up the servings throughout the day so it doesnt destroy your tummy.

I tried it, it didn’t work for me. I went into labor at 40+4 naturally. I was 2cm dilated for almost 3 weeks before that. It was the night before my induction date and contractions started the night before next thing you know I’m in full blown labor. I think a video I found on YouTube worked for me. It’s called labor activation there’s 2 ladies on the cover, maybe try it out hope it helps! Good luck ❤️
